The Schwartz/Reisman Emergency Medicine Institute (SREMI) and its partner hospitals, Sinai Health and North York General Hospital, are pleased to host the 2026 Emergency Department Administration Conference (EDAC)!
EDAC is Canada’s premier meeting for Emergency Services leaders, future leaders and aspiring leaders. Building on the success of last year’s event, we will gather again in person at the Faculty Club on the University of Toronto campus for two days of learning, sharing, and networking with colleagues from across Canada.
Learning Objectives:
Develop a leadership succession plan for their department that identifies key roles, defines the competencies needed, and outlines strategies for developing future ED leaders
Analyze current and emerging trends in ED operational leadership in Canada and identify their implications for their own department.
Compare innovative practices from peer organizations and select at least one to adapt for a challenge in their own ED
Describe the ethical, legal, and professional responsibilities of ED leaders in disclosing patient harm, and outline the key steps of a disclosure conversation with patients and families.
Identify ways that bias and stigma affect care in the ED and propose strategies to reduce their impact on patients.
Apply focused communication techniques to present and advocate for an initiative to a defined audience.
